CHESS CLUB NEWS!!!  

Congratulations to the STMM Chess Team. 

 

They won the 2008 STMM Chess Tournament hosted here on Sat., March 15. This is the fifth year in a row that STMM has taken the title although we barely won.  Sacred Heart Cathedral continues to challenge us and this year we won the tournament by only two points.  Seven diocesan Catholic Schools and one home-school group from Raleigh and Cary competed for a total of 117 students participating in the tournament.

 

Here are the final results:

Kindergarten Division   

1st place:  DJ Brown (The Franciscan School)   

2nd place:  Andrew Owens (STMM)   

3rd place:  Christina Conrad (STMM)

First Grade Division   

1st place:  Lowell Hensgen (OLL)   

2nd place: Mathew Deel (St. Ann)   

3rd place:  Rachel Pope (OLL)

Second Grade Division   

1st place:  Nicholas Labaza (STMM)   

2nd place:  Noah Lanier (Cathedral)   

3rd place:  Christopher Labaza (STMM)

Third Grade Division    

1st place:  Christopher DiSerafino (STMM)   

2nd place:  Jacob Austin (St. Ann)   

3rd place:  Sebastian Brelinsky (ARCH)

Fourth Grade Division   

1st place:  Chiagoziem Ngwadom (Cathedral)   

2nd place:  Justin Gurney (Cathedral)   

3rd place:  Fionan Lynch (STMM)

Fifth/Sixth Grade Division   

1st place:  Tim Milowic (Cathedral)   

2nd place:  Martin Matuszewski (Cathedral)   

3rd place:  Joey DiSerafino (STMM)

Seventh/Eighth Grade Division   

1st place:  Zachary Ang (STMM)   

2nd place:  Redmond Self (STMM) tied   

2nd place:  Michael Saccavino (STMM)

 

A very large thank you goes out to all our parent volunteers who helped to make the event a success.  A special thanks to Laurie Wendt and Cami Wichtrich for the breakfast and the Knights of Columbus for providing lunch.
